MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. A quartet of Methodist track and field athletes participated Friday in the (University of) Mount Olive First Chance and Multi Meet, with several of the Monarchs completing events in season- or personal-best times.
Jeremy Prichard posted a season best in the men's 400-meter hurdles, registering a second-place finish by a narrow margin while improving upon his previous season results with a time, 52.40 seconds, that moves him up to No. 3 in the national performance list for Division III. Saturday's event winner was University of Findlay's (Ohio) Lenell Shelby III whose time of 51.80 in an NCAA D-I provisional qualifying time.
Also climbing the D-III national performance list was
Erran Greene with his time of 48.13 seconds in the men's 400m dash. The result was a season best for Greene who now owns the 15th fastest time in the country for D-III men.
Jimlyn Laurent did not qualify for the championship final in the women's 100m dash, but in the preliminary heats she crossed the finish in a time of 12.41 seconds, which ties for 10th in the women's D-III South/Southeast Region.
A fourth Monarch,
Stephen Dukes, ran to a ninth-place finish in the men's 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 7.35 seconds.
