GENEVA, Ohio  Jeremy Prichard set school and conference records Saturday afternoon as he raced to a second-place finish in the championship heat of the men's 400-meter hurdles at the 2019 NCAA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Prichard posted a time of 51.46 seconds in the SPIRE Institute Stadium Saturday, shattering the Methodist University record he owned (52.35) as well as the his USA South Athletic Conference mark.

Prichard had drawn the unenviable ninth-lane position at the SPIRE oval after advancing out of Thursday's preliminary heats. That last outside lane would set him out in front of all the other competitors out of the blocks, but he would also never be able to see those competitors as they sought to overcome their deficits from the staggered start.

Prichard maintained his lead through the back stretch, then held firm in front of the chasing pack coming out of the final turn. Only in the last 5 to 10 meters or so, and after the final hurdle, was Dallas Wright of Wartburg (Iowa) College able to finally overtake Prichard to win the event in a time of 51.35.

The second-place finish vaulted Methodist into the top 25 in the team scoring, but with several more events left on the finals schedule.

Prichard's Saturday result earned the senior another All-American honor, adding to the indoor all-American award he had earned in the 400m dash at the 2019 indoor national meet.
