NAPERVILLE, Ill.  Methodist sophomore Makayla Lawler posted a personal record time of 37 minutes, 51.70 seconds in the women's 10,000-meter run Thursday evening at the Dr. Keeler Invitational, hosted by North Central College at its Benedetti Wehrli Stadium track.

The 10K and 5K champion at the 2019 USA South Athletic Conference meet, Lawler's time at Thursday's Invitational betters her previous best by 13 seconds.

In addition, Lawler's finish moves her up to third in the D-III South/Southeast Region and into the top 50 nationally on the TFRRS D-III performance list for the event.

The three-time conference champion -- Lawler also captured the conference individual title in the fall's USA South cross country championship -- now waits for the posting of invitees to the NCAA D-III men's and women's outdoor track & field championship meet that runs from May 23 through May 25 in Geneva, Ohio.
