ROUND 2 NOTES
  • Drinkard had a nice rebound from Day 1's 77, finishing Monday at even par. Two birdies against just a single bogey on the front nine allowed the All-American to pass through the turn at 1 under. Bogeys on Nos. 12 and 14 pushed her over par for the round but a birdie on the 18th leveled her outing.
  • Steingrimsen was sailing along across the front nine Monday, bouncing back from a bogey on the 3rd with a birdie on the 4th. She hit the turn at even par but alternated bogeys and birdies through the first five holes on the back before running into doubles on the 16th and 18th.
  • A pair of Monarch freshman, Emily Gresham (80-79—159, +15) and Ava Lucas (82-77—159, +15), are tied for 46th on the leaderboard. Both carded improved rounds from Sunday's opening 18 but it was Lucas who made a jump up the leaderboard, improving 11 spots on Monday.
  • Lucas' afternoon included a pair of birdies and nine birdies, and nothing worse than a bogey. Gresham also carded two birdies to go along with seven pars.
  • In a tie for 69th is Maggie Williams (84-80—164, +20). The sophomore's day was in thirds -- she was 6 over after six holes, played the next eight holes at 1 under, then finished the final four dropping three strokes. That middle stretch did help her move up one spot Monday.
  • Drinkard, through two days, is playing the par 4s under par at a cumulative 1 under, and an average score of 3.94.
  • Lucas is all even on the par 3s over two days, while Steingrimsen is at even par on Baytowne's par 5s.
