MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.  Methodist's Stephen Dukes participated in two meets hosted by the University of Mount Olive over the weekend, running in the Mount Olive First Chance and Multi meet on Saturday and the Mount Olive Final Qualifier on Sunday.

Dukes, a Monarch senior, was attempting to improve his standing on the NCAA Division III national performance list in the men's 800-meter run.

His time at Saturday's meet proved to be not only his best of the weekend, but also a new personal record (PR). Dukes finished eighth in the field with a time of 1 minute, 57.02 seconds. At Sunday's Final Qualifier meet he won the event but with a time of 1:58.98.

His PR from Saturday ranks him 28th in the South/Southeast Region for the men's 800.

The top 17 student-athletes in individual events on the men's national performance list will qualify for the national championship meet.
