TEMPE, Ariz. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Friday released its 2021 ITA Division III All-American list, naming Methodist University's
Jordan Theron one of 22 men's singles All-Americans.
Theron finished the year
ranked seventh nationally and second in the Atlantic South Region in singles play, closing out his season in the opening round of the NCAA D-III men's singles tournament.
The
USA South Athletic Conference Player and Rookie of the Year, the Monarch freshman posted a 12-4 record in singles play this season, all at the 1-singles position.
His only loss to a D-III opponent was in the NCAA tournament to the No. 2 seed in the 32-player field. Theron's other defeats were only to D-I and D-II players, but among his victories were wins against the top players from Lenoir-Rhyne University (D-II), Barton College (D-II) and The Citadel (D-I).
Theron is the Monarch program's fourth All-American, and its first since 2008.
