FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. After a one-year hiatus, the annual Methodist University Men's Tennis Fall Invitational concluded its three days of action with Sunday's matches, getting in 81 singles matches and 32 doubles matches at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center.
Unable to host the event last year, the Monarchs welcomed Averett University, Barton College, Guilford College and University of Mount Olive to the 2021 event, enjoying sunny skies and pleasant temperatures all three days at the Tennis Center.
Seven flights of singles action covered the courts Saturday and Sunday, following a Friday afternoon of all-doubles action.
Though Methodist did not win any of the flights, several Monarchs played in or won third-place matches, including the pairings of
Jordan Theron and
Quinn McNamara (doubles Flight-1) and

Theron and McNamara downed Oscar Marmastedt and Johan Holdersson of Barton , 8-3, and Rogers and Stolmeijer captured their third-place match with an 8-4 victory over teammates
Harrison Bitzberger and
Spencer Kieft.
Stolmeijer added a third-place in the singles brackets, taking his Flight-2 match, 6-2 and 6-3, over Evan Wong of Guilford.
Theron and
Alex Lycan also reached third-place matches, with Theron taking fourth-place in Flight-1 and Lycan doing the same in Flight-5.
