WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. On Saturday, Methodist Track & Field program began their 2022-23 season, starting with the indoor portion. The teams traveled to the JDL Fast Track, an indoor track & field facility, to compete in the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off event.

TOP PERFORMANCES
- Placing in the top-three in two separate events was Drew Topoly, in the men's mile and 3,000 meter races. The mile saw Topoly come in third overall after finishing with a time of four minutes and 25.62 seconds. He would win the 3,000m with a time of 8:37.47.
- Also competing in the men's mile was Will Gray, who came in 14th place with a time of 4:45.26.
- In his first collegiate event of career, Danoire Mack won his men's 60m heat with a time of 7.12 seconds. He just missed reaching the finals by one spot.
- Just like Mack, Brandi Gardner also had her first taste in a college event. She ran her 60m, on the women's side, in 8.12 and that was good for fifth place. Gardner would try her hand in the women's long jump as well. Her best jump went 5.25 meters, which was good for seventh overall.
- Coming in third for the men's 800m was Austin Ezzell following a time of 2:02.84, which was just 1.05 seconds behind the first and second place winners.
- Freshman Kayla Mitchell ran well in the women's 200m. Her 27.17 time was good for 12th best, which was the fastest time for all Division III runners. Only runners from D-I & D-II schools had better times.
NEXT UP
This was the only event in 2022 for Methodist. The Monarchs do not compete again until January 13 of 2023, when the team travels to Clemson University for the Clemson Invitational.
