JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. In a 24-team field filled with 14 squads ranked in the top 25 of the most recent Golfstat.com women's relative rankings, No. 3 ranked Methodist slid its way into third place Friday on the first day of the three-day Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate Invitational.

Location: Jekyll Island Golf Club/Indian Mound Course (5,600 yards, Par 72); Jekyll Island, Ga.
Team leaders: 1 – Emory University (289, +1), 2 – Washington and Lee University (296, +8), 3 – Methodist (298, +10)
Individual leaders: 1 – Rylee Suttor, Centre College (34-34—68, -4), 2 – Sharon Mun, Emory (37-32—69, -3), T-3 –
Jillian Drinkard, Methodist (38-32—70, -2)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist's golfers opened their Friday round on the back nine.
- Drinkard had a strong back nine, hitting four birdies to start the day 4-under par and finished the front, just 2-over.
- Emily Gresham (T-24th; 40-35—75, +3) finished in the top 25 for day one
- Maggie Williams (T-32nd; 36-40-76, +4) and Ingrid Steingrimsen (T-42nd; 41-36-77, +5) both cracked the top 50 after almost flipping scores from the front and back nine.
- Natalie Brosig (T-60th; 39-40-79, +7) did not have as strong of a day but will look to bounce back in the next round.
