MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. The Methodist men's and women's track and field teams made the trip to the University of Mount Olive on Friday for the host school's annual Trojan Relays meet.
In the men's track events,
Richard Staley and
AJ Matthews finished back-to-back in the 100 meter prelim dash to slot 11
th and 12
th place for times of 11.27 and 11.41 respectively.
In the men's field events,
Cameron Schwartz participated in the javelin throw, throwing a distance of 44.74m.
Nick Wiggins placed the highest for the Monarchs in the hammer throw and threw for a distance of 34.95m to land 12
th.
Another pair of Monarchs finished back-to-back in the triple jump, as
Keyshaun Pete and
Aaron Nash placed 9
th and 10
th, jumping distances of 12.63m and 12.30m.
As for the women's track events, Courtney Drum recorded a new personal best in the 5000m, shaving off 47 seconds to finish 5
th overall with a time of twenty minutes and 21.83 seconds.
In the women's field events,
Lusiana Mailakeba finished in the top 20 in the javelin throw, throwing a distance of 22.42m.

Methodist will finish at the Trojan Relays on Saturday, April 16 for the final day of the two day event.
