HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. For the 13th time in program history, Methodist men's golf has won the national title after capturing the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship, on Friday afternoon. On their final day around the El Campeon course, the Monarchs shot a 295 (+7) to give them a four-day total of 1,168 (+20).
With this victory, Methodist take sole possession of an NCAA Division III Championship record for the most title won by an institution. They were previous tied with Stanislaus State that won 12 national titles, in the late 1970's and 80s.
Picking up some individual honors was senior
Andre Chi, who finished in first-place. Chi becomes the 10th Monarch golfer to win this accolade and the first since 2001, when Methodist Athletic Hall of Famer Chad Collins led the field.

THE DETAILS
- The Monarchs were grouped with Huntingdon and Hampden-Sydney as they headed out for the final round from hole No. 1 starting at 9:20 a.m.
- Chi found himself at even par following the front nine that saw him make two birdies and two bogeys. He began this back on a high note by making eagle on No. 10 before finishing up with two additional birdies and bogeys to score his third straight 70 (-2) of the tournament.
- Going just one over par was Cooper Hrabak (70-75-75-73–293, +6) with a 73 for the day. Through 18 holes the sophomore made 13 pars, two birdies and three bogeys to finish in a tie for 10th.
- Henry Aniger (72-69-74-79–294, +7), a senior, had his most difficult day of the tournament by posting a 79 (+7). During the first nine holes, he shot four bogeys and a double bogey for six over at the turn. From there he went on to make a pair of birdies and three bogeys, which placed him in a tie for 13th.
- Coming in a tie for 36th overall was Cameron Cappuzzo (77-75-73-76–301, +14) after carding a four over par 76 for the round. He started off the day with a birdie and then par his next three holes before hitting bogey on hole Nos. 5 & 8 to put him one over heading into the back nine. He completed the round by making six pars and three bogeys.
- Will Campbell (78-81-75-76–310, +23) completes his freshman campaign with a day four score of 76 (+4) and in a tie for 67th place. He was not doing too well from holes 1-8, as he accumulated three bogeys and two double bogeys in that span. He eventually figured out his swing and conclude the event on a higher note by converting four birdies to one bogey.
