Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist women's tennis team concluded their annual MU Women's Fall Invite on Sunday. Today and Saturday were the single flights of the tournament at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center.
Erin Mines of Methodist came in a tie for first place in Single Flight 5. Though she only played in two games, she won both to put her win percentage at 100%. Mines first defeated Karlyn Ray of University of Mount Olive 7-5, 6-0 before taking down Miguelina Paiva of North Carolina Wesleyan University 6-2, 6-2.
In Single Flight 3,
Cailin Cifra dropped her opening match but was able to bounce back afterwards. Winning her final two matches to take 5
th place in the flight.
Toni Laney participated in Single Flight 1, where she won her first match (6-3, 6-3) than lost her next one 6-0, 6-3.
Also going 1-1 on the day was
Hannah Higgins (Flight 5), she had to play from behind in her lone victory to force a tiebreaker and prevailing (2-6, 6-4, 10-1). The rest of the Monarchs played their matches tough but did not much success the past two days.
