SALEM, Va. Methodist men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up their two-day, Friday and Saturday, event this afternoon. Both squads were at the Finn Pincus Invitational, which was held on the campus of Salem College.
Each day witnessed a program record be broken, one on the female and one on the male side. Back on Friday, freshman
Kayla Mitchell became the fastest Monarch woman to run the 500 meter race. Her time of one minute and 26.42 seconds beat out former record holder Camille Battle by .28 seconds.
Our other record breaker was
Drew Topoly in the men's 3,000 meter race that occurred on Saturday. Topoly defeats his own personal best from a season ago, an 8:35.43, by finishing with a time of 8:30.41.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
- Also from Friday, Aaron Nash competed in the men's 60m dash. His 7.22 seconds in the prelims qualified him for the semifinals. He would come in 19th overall following a 7.21 time.
- The men's 1,000m witnessed four Monarchs make the top-10. The placements were Austin Ezzell (2:36.76) in third, Alex Topoly (2:41.61) in fourth, Jackson Barriger (2:56.12) in eighth and Logan Williams (2:59.46) in ninth. Courtney Drumm and Rishika Singh also placed in the top-5 on the women's side of the 1,000m, respectively second and fifth.
- The long jump had a Monarch place in sixth for each respective gender. Cameron Schwartz made it with his best jump of 6.41m, while Brandi Gardner went 5.20m on her best leap.
- The women's 4 x 400 relay team of Gardner, Mitchell, Erykalyn Neal and Treazure Rosario Watson had a solid day as well. Coming in the top-5 following a time of 4:24.59.

Methodist will head back to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the Camel City Invitational from February 3-4.
