Fourth Consecutive Victory for Methodist Following a 9-0 Win Against Brevard

Box Score BREVARD, N.C.  Methodist University men's tennis faced off with USA South Athletic Conference foe Brevard College, in league action, on Saturday morning. The red-hot Monarchs earned their fourth straight 9-0 victory following the defeat of the Tornados at McCoy Tennis Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Matthew Hurley and Wills Belser set the tone for Methodist with an 8-1 win, in number one doubles, over Bryce Bernitt and Noah Lewis of Brevard. On court three, Will Trocchi and Evan Kane of the Monarchs picked up an 8-2 win against the Tornados' own JaMarcus Walker and Brian Seon.
  • Andrew Wood and Cameron Roth finished off the doubles sweep, 3-0, for Methodist by defeating the Brevard duo of Ethan McGee and James Srsich 8-5.
  • Hurley produced the only 6-0, 6-0 set scores for the Monarchs in his No. 1s singles flight against Bernitt of the Tornados. Dropping just one game (6-1, 6-0) was Methodist own Kane as he took down Brevard's Walker.
  • Both Belser and Roth of the Monarchs, on courts two and four respectively, each won with identical set scores of 6-2. McGee from the Tornados ended up on the losing end against Belser while Roth's counterpart was Srsich of Brevard.
  • With scores of 6-2, 6-0, Wood made the match score 8-0 in favor of Methodist after he defeated Lewis in No. 3 singles. Brevard came close to winning on court six as Seon battled Brady Mendler from the Monarchs. Seon took the first set 6-4 but Mendler would win the next two sets, including the super tiebreaker (6-4, 10-6).

Methodist is in the midst of a three-match road series with its next match being on Tuesday against USA South rival North Carolina Wesleyan University, ranked 16th in the nation. The match is set to start at 3 PM.
