ROME, Ga.  The USA South Athletic Conference released its 2023 women's track and field pre-championship poll on Tuesday, with Methodist coming in at third place out of eight teams.

Voted on by the league coaches, the poll placed Southern Virginia University in first with 49 points and seven first-place votes, followed by Meredith College with 43 points and the remaining first-place vote. In third, the Monarchs garnered 33 points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own school.

Methodist is poised to place much higher than in 2022, when the women's team finished 11th out of 13 teams at the conference championship.

This year's USA South Athletic Conference outdoor track and field championships will be hosted by Brevard College on Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28.
