Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. Members of the Methodist men's tennis team wrapped up their competitions at the ITA South Regional Championships on Saturday.
In the singles main bracket,
Matthew Hurley lost to Sewanee's Jordan Theron (6-4, 6-2), marking Hurley's final singles match of the tournament.
Competing in the doubles main consolation bracket, Hurley and teammate
Wills Belser took down Millsaps' Jacob Bobinski and Anderson Dulaney, 8-3, before falling to Piedmont's Alberto Nunez and Connor Phelps, 8-4.
Drew Guarnieri advanced in the first round of the purple singles consolation bracket with a win by default. In his next match, he suffered a loss to Oglethorpe's Figge Pernfors in two sets of 6-2 each.
Will Trocchi came up short in the gold singles consolation bracket, losing to Oglethorpe's Noah George (6-3, 6-0). Also in the gold singles consolation bracket,
Hayden Holloway secured a first-round victory, topping Rhodes' Joseph Hayes with dominant sets of 6-1 and 6-3. He then fell to Birmingham-Southern's Reed Martinson (6-2, 6-1).
In the first round of the gold doubles consolation bracket, Holloway and Guarnieri fell to Piedmont's Simon Johnstone and Brent Sherman, 8-2.
Brady Mendler fell in the first round of the black singles consolation bracket, dropping sets of 6-2 and 6-4 to Piedmont's Kody Dills.
In the black doubles bracket, Mendler and Trocchi fell to the Rhodes duo of Justin Bobo and Joseph Hayes by a score of 8-2. Dropping to the black doubles consolation bracket, Mendler and Trocchi defeated Oglethorpe's John Erckert and Daniel Leard before falling to Covenant's Mason Howard and Jackson Nance in the final match of the consolation bracket.
