Herring, D’Agostino Finish on Top at The Manor Invitational

3/16/2025 8:49:00 PM

FARMVILLE, Va.  With a nine–stroke lead after the first round of The Manor Invitational on Saturday, the Methodist men's golf 'B' team continued to outpace the field on Sunday, finishing in first by a margin of 12 strokes. The Monarchs shot even par in the first round, then shot +14 in round two.

Lucas Herring and David D'Agostino initially finished in a three–way tie for first atop the player leaderboard, triggering a three–hole playoff. With an eagle in the playoff, Herring emerged as the medalist.

Following the conclusion of the tiebreaker, the third member of the tie was eventually disqualified for a scorecard error made earlier in the round. Had his scorecard been filled out correctly, it would have reflected that he had taken one more stroke than Herring and D'Agostino and therefore would not have qualified for a playoff.

THE 'ROUND' UP
  • Herring started with a stellar first round, recording four birdies with just two bogeys. His +3 in the second round brought his tournament total to one stroke over par.
  • No one got off to a hotter start than D'Agostino on Saturday; the senior began the round on Hole 16 and birdied his first four holes. His three bogeys on the round were canceled out by six total birdies. A less fortunate second round put him tied with Herring at one stroke over par on the weekend.
  • Corbin Walker and Jonny Lewis finished the event tied for fifth. Walker shot three strokes over par each day, sinking a pair of birdies in both rounds. Lewis experienced an up and down first round, starting the day with his first of seven bogeys, but adding three birdies along the way and dropping in an eagle on the last hole to give him a score of +2. Lewis struggled on the same hole to start the second round, this time with a triple–bogey setback. The junior still managed to end the round at four strokes over par, bringing his two–round total to +6.
  • Aiden McCall rounded out the Methodist squad, shooting six strokes over par each day. The freshman recorded one birdie each day.
