Monarchs Maintain 11th–Place Team Score at Stith Invitational

GLEN ALLEN, Va.  Playing the final round of the Stith Invitational on Tuesday, the Methodist women's golf team carded nearly an identical team score compared to its round one performance, shooting a combined 35 strokes over par. The Monarchs held tight to their 11th–place spot on the team leaderboard.

FINAL ROUND
  • Emily Gresham led the Monarchs for the second day in a row, recording just one stroke over par through her first nine holes before shooting three–over par on her second half of the round. The senior was the only member of the team to record two birdies in the round, finishing the round at +4 and collecting a top–10 finish on the player leaderboard with a +7 two–day total.
  • Improving her performance by two strokes, Molly McCluskey was +8 on the day. She had her worst hole to start the day, scoring a double–bogey on Hole 10, but tallied just six bogeys for the remainder of the round.
  • Just three strokes over par at the turn, Natalie Brosig birdied her 10th hole of the round, but then bogeyed seven of her final eight holes. McCluskey and Brosig both finished the two–round event at +18.
  • Jenna Rutledge had a bumpy start to the round with a triple-bogey and a double–bogey on her second and third holes. After shooting nine strokes over par on the front half of her day, she settled down for a five–over par second half, finishing the round at +14 and ending the tournament 26 strokes over par.
  • Three–straight double–bogeys to start the day made for a tough round for Chloe Kraus. The senior finished the day at 17 strokes over par, making her two–round total +28.

The Monarchs will have nearly two weeks to prepare before their next event — the Deb Jackson Invitational on April 13 and 14 — which will be held at West Pines Golf Club in Douglasville, Georgia.
