WINCHESTER, Va. Methodist football opened its 2025 campaign on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 25-6 to Shenandoah at Glo Fiber Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarch defense was tested immediately as the Hornets advanced deep into MU territory on their first two possessions. Each time, Shenandoah had the ball 1st-and-goal, and each time the Monarchs stood tall on fourth down to keep the game scoreless.
- Later in the first quarter, the Hornets broke the scoreless tie when their defense forced Methodist into a safety, giving Shenandoah a 2-0 edge at the 4:40 mark.
- Early in the second quarter, quarterback Jack Pearson found Christi Francis for a 19-yard touchdown pass. The extra point failed, keeping the score at 8-0.
- Just before halftime, Methodist nearly recorded its first points as quarterback Ty Little connected with Carlando Love II for 51 yards, but Love was stopped at the three-yard line as time expired.
- After the break, the Hornets extended their lead in the third quarter when backup quarterback Mason Anderson connected with Roge't Walker on an 87-yard strike. A Carson Gallant 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter pushed Shenandoah ahead 18-0 before Methodist finally broke through.
- The Monarchs put together a 12-play, 65-yard drive, capped by Little's 11-yard touchdown pass to Colin Fay with 1:49 remaining.
- After the Hornets recovered the onside kick, Aidan McCloskey broke free for a 46-yard touchdown run to seal the 25-6 final.

- Little, a sophomore transfer, got his first collegiate start today, completing 21-of-29 for 211 yards while registering a touchdown and an interception.
- Sophomore CJ Ferguson led the backfield with 26 rushing yards on 12 carries, while senior Ty Benton paced the receiving corps with a career-high eight catches for 52 yards, team-high.
- Defensively, senior Omar Goodwin turned in a career performance with 14 tackles (nine solo), including a sack.

Methodist returns home to Fayetteville next Saturday, September 13, hosting Guilford College in its home-opener inside Monarch Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 PM.
