MONTGOMERY, Ala. Picking up a second win in USA South play, the Methodist women's lacrosse team took down Huntingdon College on the road Saturday, defeating the Hawks 19–3. The Monarchs have now scored 16 or more goals in three consecutive outings, with 19 being the most goals the team has scored in a single game this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks scored less than a minute into the match, putting the Monarchs down 1–0.
Layla Wiesenfeld and
Rylie Sturgill traded goals back and forth for the next four scores, then
Abigail Fritzsche tallied a fifth goal for Methodist with less than three minutes to go in the first quarter.
Wiesenfeld started out the second quarter with back-to-back scores less than 30 seconds apart, with
Brooke Murrell and Fritzsche each logging an assist. The Monarchs scored four more across the final 11 minutes of the half, with Sturgill and Murrell each netting two.
Sturgill sent another shot past the goalie to start the third, adding to Methodist's large lead to make the score 12–1. Methodist's momentum was briefly disrupted by a Huntingdon goal, but the Monarchs rattled off four more scores in the quarter, including a hat trick by
Anna Tabarrini in that span.
Cheyenne Burton contributed the first goal of the fourth, followed by more insurance goals from Wiesenfeld and Sturgill. The last goal of the game went to the home team, making the final score 19–3.
FAST FACTS
- Sturgill ended the day with seven goals and eight points — both career highs. Her 25 goals so far this season are second-most on the team behind Wiesenfeld (29), who scored five times and matched Sturgill's eight total points in the win.
- Freshman Abigail Fritzsche led the team with five draw controls while contributing two caused turnovers, two ground balls, one goal and one assist.
