Box Score 2 SALISBURY, Md. & YORK, Pa. The Methodist men's tennis team continued its spring break trip this past weekend, earning a pair of non-conference sweeps. On Saturday, the Monarchs remained in Salisbury, Maryland, defeating Gettysburg College 7–0 in a neutral-site match at the SU Outdoor Tennis Center. Methodist then traveled to York, Pennsylvania, on Sunday and posted another 7–0 victory over York College at the Myers Tennis Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GETTYSBURG
- Methodist set the tone early in doubles play, sweeping all three courts to take the opening point. The No. 2 pair of Matthew Hurley and Decklan Rayner delivered a dominant 6–0 victory, while the top tandem of Harry Crokam and Aaron Zoubek secured a 6–3 win. Billy Johnson and Andrew Waddill matched that score on court three, earning a 6–3 victory of their own.
- Rayner was the first Monarch to finish in singles play, recording a 6–1, 6–3 win at the No. 4 position. Crokam followed with a 6–1, 7–5 victory at No. 2 singles before Waddill extended the Monarch lead with a 6–1, 6–4 win on court six.
- Hurley then secured another point for Methodist at the top flight. After cruising to a 6–0 first-set victory, Hurley edged out a second-set tiebreaker 7–6 (8–6) to claim the match.
- Zoubek added to the sweep with a 6–2, 6–4 win at No. 3 singles. The final match of the day came at No. 5 singles, where Shea McCarthy battled Gettysburg's Matt Porreca. McCarthy took the opening set 7–5 before Porreca responded with a 6–3 second-set win. In the deciding super tiebreaker, McCarthy prevailed 10–5 to complete the Monarch sweep.
Following the contest, assistant coach
Brett Karpman praised the team's effort.
"I am proud of the way the men's team fought and competed today," said Karpman. "They didn't drop a single match against a tough, well-known northern program. This was a great win for Monarch tennis."
HOW IT HAPPENED vs. YORK
- For the second consecutive day, Methodist came out strong in doubles play, surrendering just one game across the three courts to take the early advantage. Among the pairings was the duo of Caio Lira and Christian Tihanovich at the No. 3 position, who earned a 6–0 victory in their first time playing together this season.
- Cameron Roth opened singles play with a 6–0, 6–1 victory at No. 6 singles. Hurley followed with a 6–1, 6–0 win at the top flight, and Crokam delivered another dominant performance at No. 2 singles with a 6–1, 6–0 result.
- McCarthy continued the Monarch momentum with a 6–0, 6–2 win on court five. After contributing to the doubles point, Lira also earned a singles victory, posting a 6–1, 6–3 win. Johnson wrapped up the match for Methodist with a 6–3, 6–2 victory at No. 3 singles.
Following Sunday's match, Karpman again praised the team's performance.
"Today was another great win against a team that made the NCAA Division III National Tournament last year," said Karpman. "Tomorrow we will play a third team that made the national tournament."
