No. 6 Monarchs Sit Second After Two Rounds at Capital Hill Classic

PRATTVILLE, Ala.  The No. 6-ranked Methodist men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Capital Hill Classic on Monday, sitting in second place with a team score of 569 (-7). The Monarchs opened with a two-over 290 before firing a field-low nine-under 279 in the second round at the RTJ Golf Trail at Capitol Hill Golf Club.

FIRST TWO ROUNDS
  • Junior Todd Moyer led the Monarchs in the opening round with a two-under 70, highlighted by a team-best five birdies. He followed that performance with a one-over 73 in the second round, recording three birdies to bring his two-day total to 143 (-1), placing him in a tie for seventh.
  • Senior Haden Ruby carded a three-over 75 in the first round despite recording just one birdie. He bounced back in the second round with an impressive four-under 68, making six birdies to also move into a tie for seventh at 143 (-1).
  • Senior Beau Brewer recorded three birdies in each round, shooting a one-over 73 in the first round before improving to a one-under 71 in round two. Brewer sits tied for 11th with a two-round total of 144 (E).
  • Senior Jonny Lewis made two birdies during his opening round on his way to a five-over 77 but responded with a standout performance in round two. Lewis fired a career-low five-under 67, highlighted by six birdies and an eagle, improving by 10 strokes and moving into a tie for 11th with a total score of 144 (E).
  • Sophomore William Plageman also contributed steady play, shooting even-par 72 with four birdies in the first round before carding a one-over 73 in round two. Plageman sits tied for 19th at 145 (+1).
UP NEXT
Methodist returns to the course Tuesday, April 7, for the final round of the Capital Hill Classic. The Monarchs are scheduled to tee off at 8 AM (CDT).
