BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Methodist men's soccer team opened USA South play this afternoon against Southern Virginia University, competing against the Knights toe-to-toe inside Knight Stadium which ultimately concluded to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Josh Mott kicked off the scoring for Methodist off a PK goal caused by the London Timothy foul for Southern Virginia. After the yellow card given to Timothy within the box, Mott would strike one into the net for the Monarchs, allowing Methodist to go up 1-0 in the 15th minute.
- The Knights would fight back with a goal of their own within the closing seconds before the half. Holden Calder connected for Southern Virginia from a touch pass by Mark Grimmer inside the attack zone, tying things up 1-1 in the 45th minute of the clash.
- Methodist was unable to cash in any additional scoring opportunities, with only three shots attempted by the Monarchs for the remaining 45 minutes of the contest.
- Senior Trey Gohr kept the Monarchs in the game, collecting two saves off Knights shot attempts by Jacob Nielsen and London Timothy, surrendering no goals off five shots in the ultimate half of the match.

- Methodist concluded the clash with their lowest shot total on the year, seven shots in total, with four shots on goal.
- Offensively, senior Josh Mott was the top offensive contributor against Southern Virginia, recording one goal off four shots, two of those being on goal for Methodist, in 83 minutes of action. Mott extended his scoring streak to four-straight games for Methodist from the draw against the Knights.
