FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist football will be one of hundreds of teams supporting Coach to Cure MD, a national charity project of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) that culminates on September 26, 2009 as well as Take a Kid to the Game.
On Saturday, thousands of coaches nationwide in all levels of collegiate football will come together to raise awareness and research funding for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, the most prolific genetic killer diagnosed in childhood.
On September 26th, AFCA members will wear a “Coach to Cure MD” logo patch on the sidelines and college football fans will be asked to donate to research projects supported by Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, the largest nonprofit organization in the U.S. focused entirely on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Football fans can donate to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research by either going online to www.CoachtoCureMD.org or by texting the word “CURE” to 90999 (a $5 donation will automatically be added to your next phone bill and standard text message rates apply).
Methodist invites all area children to attend Saturday's game, against the Emory & Henry Wasps. Children have the opportunity to experience a college football game as the Monarchs hosts NCAA Football's fifteenth annual “Take A Kid to the Game” (TAKG) program presented by Coca-Cola and sponsored by other Corporate Champions, AT&T and Pontiac. Kids, ages fourteen and younger, will receive a free ticket with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket, to watch the Monarchs, Saturday at 1 pm.
Methodist is one of more than 200 schools across the nation that hosting a game in this campaign focused on allowing youth the opportunity to attend college football games. The Take A Kid to the Game program is entering into its fourteenth year in the promotion of collegiate athletics.
