WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University took the early lead and cruised to the 16-2 win over the Methodist Monarchs.

Methodist goalkeeper Dawn Sanderson picked up an early save, but the Hornets came back with two quick goals. Turnovers proved costly as the Monarchs were 3-for-13 in the first half on clears. Shenandoah took the 12-0 lead at halftime. The Hornets opened the second half with two goals, but Methodist called a timeout and Jasmine Stephens came up with the draw and drove down for a goal to put the Monarchs on the board. Shenandoah took a 16-1 lead, but Stephens scored her second goal of the game with 18 seconds remaining in the game.

The Hornets finished with the 16-2 win. Sanderson had seven stops for Methodist. Ashley Cross made seven saves for Shenandoah.

The Monarchs will be back in action next Saturday at Christopher Newport at 2 p.m.
