FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist University, under the direction of 25th-year Head Coach
Steve Conley, was picked to win the USA South Athletic Conference 2012 golf title in the preseason coaches' poll. Last spring, the Monarchs came up just short in their bid for the championship, but this season they look to capture the program's 29th title.
Methodist received five of seven first-place votes (34 points) as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting. Greensboro College finished second in the balloting with 30 points and one first-place vote while the defending USA South Champions, Christopher Newport University, placed third in the poll with 29 points and the final first-place vote. Averett University rounded out the top-four of the poll with 21 points.
The Monarchs finished in the top ten in all four events this fall including earning the win at the NCAA Preview in September. They will finalize their roster the first week of February in preparation to open the spring season at the Huntingdon Invitational Mar. 5-6.
The 2012 USA South Golf Tournament will be played at Stoney Creek Golf Club in Burlington, North Carolina on April 13-15.
