Box Score MURFREESBORO, N.C. -- Chowan outscored the Methodist women's lacrosse team, 11-2, in the second half en route to an 18-7 win at Hawks Field on Saturday afternoon.

After falling behind 4-0 less than six minutes into the game, the Monarchs came storming back with four consecutive goals of their own to knot the contest at 4-4 with 12:03 left in the first half.
Hope Motahari began the surge with an unassisted goal at the 17:34 mark then assisted on
Cassie Walter's goal at the 13:57 mark to make it 4-2. Just over a minute later,
Bianca Terenzi pulled the Monarchs within a goal at 4-3 with an unassisted tally, and Mothari tied the game at 4-4 with an unassisted goal of her own just 48 seconds later.

The Hawks (2-1) answered with three straight tallies, including a pair of goals by Mackenzie Reid, to take a 7-4 lead with 6:13 on the clock. Motahari scored her third goal of the half 1:30 before the break to make it a 7-5 contest heading to the locker rooms.

In the second half, Walter needed just 49 seconds to pulled Mu within one (7-6), and
Sareena Coleman scored off a feed from Terenzi with 27:53 to play to tie the game up at 7-7. Sierra Burston answered with a goal at the 26:20 to give Chowan the lead back at 8-7, and the Hawks did not look back from there. They scored 10 more goals, including five in a span of roughly five minutes to pick up their second win of the season.

The Hawks dominated the draw circle, coming away with 19-of-26 draw controls, and also posted 26 ground balls to MU's 10.

In addition to Motahari's three goals and an assist, she came away with five draw controls and picked up three ground balls. Walter scored twice, and
Oriana Clayton had three ground balls.
Ashley Cannon made 14 saves in goal.

Reid led Chowan with seven goals and two assists, and also had 12 draw controls and four ground balls. Charisse Wilcox scored five goals and added four ground balls, while Adriea Herndon chipped in a pair of goals, seven ground balls and three caused turnovers. Haley Haggard played all 60:00 in the cage and made three saves.

Methodist is back on the field on Wednesday when they play at Southern Virginia beginning at 4:00 pm.
