ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. Methodist's
Drew Topoly cracks the top-5 Saturday morning at the USA South Athletic Conference Championship, in a field of over 100 runners in the men's 8-kilomoter race.
Topoly earned first-team all-conference honors with his fifth-place finishing time of 26 minutes, 1.01 seconds, for it his third all-conference honor after making it back in 2019 & spring of 2021.
Racing to second-team honors was
Xavier McLamb, who placed 12th with a time of 27:01.72.
On the women's side of the ledger,
Madison Pompey picked up honorable mentioned all-conference honors, finishing 28th with a time of 26:03.41 on the six-kilometer course, which was her personal best this season.

MONARCH NOTES
- The Methodist men's team complete the event in sixth while the women wound up in ninth.
- Along with Topoly and McLamb, the other runners who counted toward the team score were Austin Ezzell (41st, 29:15.58), Jackson Barriger (43rd, 29:27.81), and Will Gray (52nd, 30:00.32).
- The other two Monarchs that raced on the men's side were Kamden Payne, who finished 57th overall with a time of 30:42.14 and Armelius Haynes posting a time of 31:21.48 for 59th.
- Besides Pompey, the other women apart of the team chase were Caroline Stubblefield (38th, 27:04.25), Courtney Drumm (49th, 27:53.43), Ainsley McGinn (61st, 29:46.99), and Hannah Williams (91st, 1:09:53.40).
- McGrinn also set a new personal best in only her second career event by shaving off a little over five minutes from the last race she participated.
