FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University Vice President and Director of Athletics
Dave Eavenson has announced on Tuesday that Head Women's Golf Coach
Tom Inczauskis is moving into a full-time faculty position in the University's Sport Management program and will be stepping down as coach. Eavenson announced that Kelsie Carralero -- coming to MU from Washington and Lee University -- is the new head coach of the 26-time Division III national champion.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have coached at Methodist University. I have met so many remarkable people, traveled the country, and coached amazing young women over the last 13 years," Inczauskis said. "The memories we have made together will last a lifetime. I am thankful for the understanding and support of the student-athletes, athletic administration, fellow coaches, and the PGA Golf Management Program (PGM)."
"I look forward to remaining an active member of the Methodist University community as I transition to the Sport Management Department in the Reeves School of Business and will always be a Monarchs fan. I am excited for the next chapter in my career here at MU and the future of Methodist women's golf."
Dr. Suzanne Blum Malley, who is provost at MU, had this to say about the newest member of the school of business: "We are thrilled to have Tom transition to full-time teaching in our Sport Management program. Our students will benefit from his extensive knowledge and experience."
Inczauskis has been a member of the Methodist faculty since 2005 and was the director of instruction & head golf professional for the University's PGM program. He took over the reins of the women's team starting with the 2009-10 season.
During his time as head coach, he kept the team's historic success in NCAA Division III women's golf going by winning four national titles, including three straight in his first three seasons. In his 13-year tender he has accumulated 49 tournament victories.
Inczauskis has been a D-III Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year (2021), a five-time Region Coach of the Year, two-time USA South Athletic Conference Women's Golf Coach of the Year, and was the 2012 & 2019 MU Athletics McLean Foundation Coach of the Year.
He also coached 28 All-Region golfers, 22 All-Americans, two D-III PING WGCA Player of the Year (2010: Susan Martin & 2021:
Jillian Drinkard), and a D-III WGCA Freshman of Year (2019: Drinkard). Though the USA South just recently started a women's golf championship during the 2019-20 academic year, his coaching success continues as his teams have swept the end of season awards (Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, & Coach of the Year) in back-to-back seasons (along with 10 golfers being named to the all-conference teams).
"Tom has done an amazing job as our head women's golf coach," Eavenson said. "Our teams have always performed at a high level on the course and in the classroom. He has had an extremely successful career as our head coach and he will be missed. We are excited to work with Tom in his new role at MU!"
Carralero comes back to the green and gold after serving as the head women's golf coach and assistant men's golf coach at Washington and Lee University. A 2014 graduate of Methodist University, she has a bachelor of science in Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Golf Management. She was a four-year letter-winner in golf and a four-time NCAA Division III All-American. She was also a member of two NCAA Division III National Championship winning teams and earned the National Division III Kim Moore Spirit Award in 2014.
"We are excited to welcome Kelsie Carralero as our new head women's golf coach," Eavenson said. "She was an elite player in our program helping our teams win national titles and that success has carried over to her coaching career. We are excited about the future of our women's golf program under her leadership."
Carralero earned a master of science in Business Administration from Methodist in 2016. She is a member of the Professional Golfers' Association of America and the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
"I am excited to be able to return to Methodist and the PGM program and mentor the students, as the great staff before me has done," Carralero said. "I am a better coach and person because of them and I cannot wait to offer the same help and advice to current and future students. It is truly an honor to come back and lead the team I was once a part of."
"I would offer a special thank you to
Tom Inczauskis, for believing in me and allowing me to take over the incredible program. I am extremely grateful and there is no one else I would rather be succeeding."
