Monarchs Wrap Up 2024 Season at NCAA Regionals

CLINTON, MISS.  On Saturday, the Methodist University men's cross country team competed in the 2024 NCAA Division III South Regional Championships. The Monarchs finished in 18th place out of 22 teams after accumulating 578 points.

Top teams, women: 1 – Washington and Lee University (38 pts.), 2 – Emory University (49 pts.), 3 – University of Lynchburg (98 pts.)
Top individuals, women: 1 – Olivia Warr, WLU (21:34.70), 2 – Brigid Hanley, Emory (21:42.49), 3 – Allison Dell, Lynchburg (21:44.64)
Top teams, men: 1 – Lynchburg (51 pts.), 2 – Emory (56 pts.), 3 – WLU (59 pts.)
Top individuals, men: 1 – Chasen Hunt, Lynchburg (24:29.62), 2 – Tucker Wright, Berry College (24:36.50), 3 – Sam Llaneza, Lynchburg (24:54.25)

MONARCH NOTES
  • Junior Rafael Shilengitha was the fastest Methodist runner, finishing with a time of 28 minutes, 26.58 seconds, coming in 90th overall.
  • In his final collegiate cross country race, senior Jack Barriger came in 109th place, following a time of 28:57.07. A minute and a half later, junior Logan Williams (30:18.21) crossed the finish line for 124th place.
  • Rounding out the Monarchs were freshman Jadon Triola (30:49.56) and sophomore Landon Faircloth (33:32.77), respectively, coming in 130th and 154th.
