Methodist Ends Up in Second Following the Conclusion of the Tiger Invitational

PINEHURST, N.C.  No. 1 ranked Methodist University men's golf wrapped up the Tiger Invitational with a second-place finish on Monday, March 11.

FINAL ROUND
  • Like the previous round, Cameron Cappuzzo (73-73) and Cooper Hrabak (73-73) scored another one-over par 73 on day two, placing them in a tie for eighth with a final score of 146 (+2). Cappuzzo began the day with bogey but then evened out the front half of the course after making a birdie on hole No. 9. His time on the back half saw him make three more bogeys to just two birdies.
  • Through his first eight holes, Hrabak made three birdies & three bogeys to keep him at even-par. From hole 12 to 16, he went on a stretch of making bogey followed by birdie (3 bogeys, 2 birdies) before paring his remaining holes.
  • Chase Walts (72-75) fell out of the top-five and ended up in a tie for 13th, shot a three-over par 75 in round two, on the final day, where he accumulated a grand total of 147 (+3). A triple bogey and a couple of bogeys had him at five-over but he was able settle down and knock in a pair of birdies to take off two strokes.
  • Placing within the top-25, at T-24, David D'Agostino (75-75) posted a three-over par 75 for the second consecutive day, this gave him a total of 150 (+3). His scorecard consisted of four bogeys and a birdie during his last trip around the course.
  • This was a tough tournament for Aiden Spampinato (79-77), who came in a tie for 56th following a two-day total of 156 (+12). He shaved off two strokes from his first-round score and carded a five-over par 77, after making six bogeys and a birdie.

Methodist is off for the next 11 days before traveling to Georgia for the 2024 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, March 22-24.
