SAVANNAH, Ga.  The No. 1 ranked Methodist University men's golf team resumed its second round play, which was called early the day prior, before starting the last round of the Savannah Invitational. Following round two, the Monarchs slipped into a tie for third but then showed why they are the top ranked team, in Division III, during the final round, as the team shot 14-under par to take first place.

FINAL ROUND
  • Spampinato finished up his second round with a score of two-under par 70 then went on to record another 68 (-4), same score as day one, in round three. A trio of birdies put him at three-under through the first nine before he chipped in two additional birdies, and a bogey, to wrap-up his day. He ended up in a three-way tie for second place with a final score of 206 (-10).
  • Finishing two strokes behind Spampinato, in sixth overall, was David D'Agostino with a three-day total of eight-under par 208. D'Agostino wrapped up round two with a one-under par 71 before shooting a 68 (-4) himself. Similar to his teammate, he also carded three birdies on the front half of the course. He kept the momentum going with birdies on holes 11 & 13 then hit a rough patch, bogeyed back-to-back holes, but he had a strong end by making an additional birdie on his second to last hole.
  • After scoring a previous round of 74 (+2), Chase Walts posted a five-under par 67 in round three, which was the lowest round score for Methodist. This vaulted Waltz up 27 spots to claim 12th place, 213 (-3). With a two-under (three birdies and a bogey) heading into the turn, he bogeyed to open the back half but that was his only blemish as he sank four birdies to conclude the round.
  • Cooper Hrabak shot his worst round of the tournament in the second round, a three-over par 75. He would bounce back during his last trip around the course as he scored a 71 (-1), which gave him a grand total of one-over par 217 and final placement of T-24th. Like Spampinato & D'Agostino, Hrabak was three-under following his time on the front half. The last nine gave him a little more trouble as he bogeyed three times and birdied once.
  • Cameron Cappuzzo rounds out the Monarchs five-member squad, and he came in tie for 33rd at the end of the invitational, with a 219 (+3). He shot a one-over par 73 in round two before carding a three-over par 75 on his last go around. Three birdies and two bogeys had him at one-under through nine and then a pair of double bogeys, bogeys, & birdies added four strokes to his total.
