BOULDER CITY, Nev.  Sitting atop the Division III Men's Golf Championship leaderboard after round one, the No. 1-ranked Methodist men's golf team entered Wednesday's second round with a one-stroke advantage. Facing greater difficulty on day two, the Monarchs collectively shot seven strokes over par, bringing their tournament total down to 10-under par and dropping them to third place.

The Monarchs were one of just five schools to shoot under 300 strokes as a team on The Legacy Golf Club course on Wednesday, while 14 of the schools competing on the Boulder Creek Golf Club course finished under 300. Emory (Methodist's closest competitor on day one) shot 14 strokes over par on the Legacy course, dropping the team to sixth place on the leaderboard at -2.

ROUND TWO
  • With the Monarchs starting on Hole 10, Caleb Ryan began the day with a birdie. He carded a double-bogey on Hole 16 but immediately followed it with another birdie. A bogey on Hole 5 was compensated for by an eagle on the final hole of the round, completing the best individual round for Methodist on Wednesday. The -1 puts Ryan at -3 through two days and gives him a share of 10th place on the individual leaderboard.
  • Cooper Hrabak had an up-and-down afternoon, highlighted by an eagle on Hole 17. He carded three birdies during the round but also recorded six bogeys along the way for a round score of +1. Still, the senior sits at four-under par through two days, giving him a seventh-place tie with teammate Chase Walts and one other individual.
  • Walts followed Hrabak closely on Wednesday at two-over par. He played a relatively quiet first nine holes (seven pars, one double-bogey and one birdie) but sank three bogeys and two birdies in his final six.
  • Aiden Spampinato was the final scorer to count towards Methodist's total during the second round. He finished at five-over par with two bogeys, two double-bogeys and a birdie.
