6/3/2025 3:35:00 PM

GREENWOOD, Ind.  The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its Academic All-District Baseball Teams on Tuesday. Methodist University had five of its student-athletes earn a spot on the NCAA Division III list, including Chase Carroll, Banks Engle, Tristen Melvin, and Austin Rinzel. For Carroll, Engle, and Melvin, this is their second CSC All-District selection, while Rinzel earns his first.

Carroll, a senior from Benson, North Carolina, and the closer for the Monarchs, registered some of his best statistics in his final year. In 29.1 innings pitched, a career-high, he recorded a career-low 3.38 ERA and matched his career-best in saves with six. Carroll was nearly unhittable in his last seven appearances, giving up one unearned run on four hits and one walk while striking out six over 11.1 innings. Throughout his career, he accumulated 20 total saves, making it the second-most in program history.

Engle, a senior from Hampstead, North Carolina, missed some time at the beginning of the season but then returned as Methodist's everyday first baseman. Appearing in 44 games and starting 42 of them, he achieved a .310 batting average and drove in a career-high 37 runners. He also recorded a career-high 49 hits, which included six doubles, four triples, and a home run. Defensively, he registered a career-high 304 putouts, 18 assists, and four errors, resulting in a fielding percentage of .988.

Melvin, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, played in all but two games this season. The starting left fielder led the Monarchs in almost every single offensive category, not including runs and doubles. His defense vastly improved from last year to this year, as he only committed three errors and had a fielding percentage of .962.

Rinzel, a sophomore from Columbia, South Carolina, patrolled center field for Methodist in 45 games, all of which were starts. The speedy outfielder improved his overall performance, setting new career highs in batting average (.331), hits (56), runs (47), RBIs (26), and stolen bases (30). On defense, he recorded 137 putouts, three assists, and two errors for a .986 fielding percentage.
