JACKSONVILLE, N.C. Methodist men's golf kicked off the first day of the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate on Friday and following the round the Monarchs are in the front of the pack with a ten under 270. Today Methodist played on the Scarlet course.
For this tournament, the 24 teams will play on the Gold course and then on the Scarlet the next day. After the 36 holes, the top half of the teams will go on to play for the tournament championships, which will be played on Gold, for the final day.

OPENING ROUND
- Just one stroke behind the leaders, with a five under 65, was Henry Angier. By carding seven birdies to a couple of bogeys, Angier finds himself in a tie for third place through 18 holes
- Will Campbell is continuing his excellent spring season with a 67 (-3) on day one. His front nine saw him make four birdies and one bogey before going even on the back with a birdie and a bogey, which puts him in a tie for fifth overall.
- In a tie for seventh, we have Cameron Cappuzzo who shot a two under 68. He looked pretty solid after his first nine holes, only being one over, and then birdied three of the next four. An additional birdie and a bogey allowed him to end three under on his last nine.
- Going even par for the round was Cooper Hrabak to put him in a tie for 16th place. The only two holes he did not shoot par were hole Nos. 2 & 9, which he respective made birdie and bogey.
- The final Monarch of this five some is Andre Chi with a score of 71 (+1). His front nine consisted of three birdies and two bogeys before making the turn. The back nine gave him one snag with a double bogey on No. 15 otherwise his other two bogeys and birdies cancelled each other out. This sticks him in a tie for 27th overall.
UP NEXT
Methodist will play the Gold course tomorrow in round two and at the conclusion of the second day will determine if the Monarchs make the championship round.
