A four-year contributor to the Methodist baseball team from 2000 to 03. During his time here, Glies was named to the DIAC All-Conference team all four years, earning first-team honors in 2000, 2001, and 2002, and a second-team spot in 2003. He was also named the league's Rookie of the Year in 2000 and Player of the Year in 2002. Glies helped guide the Monarchs to two regular-season conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances in 2001 and 2002. In the same year he was named POY, the American Baseball Coaches Association named him a Second Team All-American. Additionally, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association recognized him as the Division III South Region Player of the Year. In the record books, his 243 career hits rank fourth in program history, and he also holds the third-best single-season batting average at .439.
