Women's basketball put together back-to-back DIAC championships in 2002 and 2003, advancing into the NCAA tournament with each of those titles.

The Monarchs finished the 2001-02 campaign with a 17-12 overall record and a 10-4 mark within the league, and were paced by Kelly Holland's 9.3 points per game average and second-team all-conference player Jennifer Neal. Holland was voted the conference tournament MVP.

The 2002-03 squad posted a 19-10 record and topped the league standings with a 10-5 mark, downing Christopher Newport University, 56-53, to capture the league title in the postseason conference tournament. Methodist dropped a heartbreaking 50-49 loss in the opening round of the 2003 NCAA tournament. First-team all-conference selection Latasha Watlington (15.3 PPG), Stacy Holland (12.4) -- the conference tournament MVP -- and Jennifer Dollyhigh (10.5) formed a trio of Monarchs that averaged double-figures in Methodist's national tournament-bound season.
